Dr. Jessica Good is seeking a full-time Lab Manager position for the Social Psychology Laboratory at Davidson College. This position would start in the summer of 2017 and last for one year with the possibility to extend the position for a second year. The successful applicant will join an NSF-funded laboratory examining the impact of classroom diversity management practices on the experience of women and underrepresented students in science, technology, engineering, and math courses. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in psychology, with laboratory experience.  The person accepting this position will assist in all aspects of research being conducted in the Social Psychology Laboratory, and will supervise and train students working in the laboratory. Information about the lab can be found at http://jessicajgood.com/.

BASIC FUNCTION

The full-time Lab Manager will assist in all aspects of research being conducted in the Social Psychology Laboratory. The Lab Manager will supervise and train students who participate in the research program of the Social Psychology Laboratory.  Most work will be done in a human research laboratory on the Davidson College campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The full-time Lab Manager will work closely with the Dr. Good to create and test experimental materials, recruit participants, maintain records and data collected in experiments, ensure that all lab operations are running smoothly. The Lab Manager will supervise, schedule, train and recruit (with Dr. Good) student research assistants.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in psychology, with at least one year of laboratory experience. Laboratory experience may have been obtained in whole or in part during undergraduate training.  Knowledge of basic experimental design for studying behavior with specific knowledge of social psychology research techniques. Basic statistical analysis skills required. Experience with computers required. Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office, SPSS, or R. Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills also required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Coding and/or website design experience highly desired. Experience with Qualtrics or other online study administration desired. Advanced statistical training desired. Willingness to assist the PI in preparing conference presentations and manuscripts, and in coordinating the range of projects that occur concurrently in the lab. Leadership skills including supervision of others and the coordination of a team desired.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS

This is a one year position that may be extended or renewed pending funding. This individual will be the primary Lab Manager in the Social Psychology Laboratory. Dr. Jessica Good is the principal investigator of the lab and the manager will report directly to her.  This manager will be expected to work well independently and as a part of a collaborative team.  Some prior experience conducting social psychological experiments is required, but this experience may have been obtained in whole or in part during undergraduate training.
