An Education Abroad Advisor is needed to provide information and guidance to students about education abroad programs in an open and welcoming manner.
Work closely with participants, faculty, staff and program partners throughout promotion, application and administrative processes. Collaborate with other college staff to insure participants are well informed and prepared to travel.
Monitor security conditions abroad and provide information to promote safety of education abroad program participants. Serve as liaison to students and administrators while programs are in progress; facilitate re-entry programming and connect with returnees.
Gather information and assess feedback on programs to inform College administrators. Manage general office functions and execute decisions in Director's absence.
Advise students about study abroad options and programs compatible with their academic goals, interests and special needs. Demonstrate and provide information on application procedures.
Develop knowledge of Davidson's portfolio of study abroad options including faculty-led summer and semester programs, provider programs, and other international educational opportunities. Maintain study abroad library reference and resource materials.
Gain information about Davidson's academic and other departments to develop understanding of administrative needs and educational objectives as they relate to international programs. Implement educational pre-departure and re-entry programming.
Using website and Terra Dotta software system, work closely with other staff members to facilitate and update application cycles, monitor applications and travel registrations, extract data, disseminate information and provide requested reports on education abroad activity.
Organize and assist in education abroad outreach endeavors; create marketing materials, develop social media information.
Bachelor's degree is required. Must be highly organized with attention to detail, reliable and enthusiastic regarding international education; Must possess excellent listening, oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with others. International academic experience and one or more years working in higher education administration is required. Candidate must be comfortable exercising independent judgment while working under general supervision. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must be PC literate with experience in database management and MS Office.
Master's degree preferred. Experience working in an education abroad office is preferred. Experience with website management; Terra Dotta software or similar record management system use; Experience working closely with students of diverse background and proficiency in a foreign language is preferred.
