Assistant Professor - Developmental Psychology

The Davidson College Psychology Department invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in developmental psychology, beginning July 1, 2020. We seek a psychological scientist who will teach introductory and advanced courses in developmental psychology and involve undergraduates in research. This person will contribute to our psychology curriculum with courses such as general psychology, a topical survey course (e.g., child development, adolescent development, educational psychology), a research-methodology course, and an advanced seminar in a research specialty area (e.g., literacy, gender development). The regular teaching load is 5 courses over 2 semesters, with 4 courses in the first year.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active research program capable of attracting external funding and producing peer-reviewed publications with undergraduate co-authors. Preference will be given to candidates who have a publication record addressing developmental psychology, teaching developmental psychology, or similar experiences. We are especially interested in candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in their professional work. Strongest consideration will be given to candidates who can interface with other departments and programs on campus, such as Educational Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Sociology, Health and Human Values, or Data Science. PhD by July 2020 is required.
