The Associate Director for HR Operations is a new position which will run the day-to-day operations of a high volume  HR department, manage five members of the HR staff, and ensure accurate and up-to-date process documentation is in place for all HR processes. The person in this position will find solutions for operational problems and implement process improvement across the department. The position reports to the Director of HR.

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree, and a Master's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology is preferred. Also required are a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing HR operations and HR staff. 

Prior experience with and knowledge of higher education administration processes, practices and systems strongly preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and ability needed for the position include:

  • Strong desire to help others improve their performance.
  • Attention to detail and love of process and orderliness
  • Detailed understanding of HR policies, systems, and processes
  • Demonstrated understanding of employment law and HR compliance requirements. Strong fundamental knowledge of HR functions with depth of knowledge and practice in benefits, HR data input for payroll, hiring, and leaves
  • Strong grounding in compliance requirements related to payroll, worker’s compensation, employment law, recruitment, etc
  • Experience with payroll systems, worker’s compensation, benefits
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications and ability to learn new computer programs readily. Knowledge of Banner HR a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. Outstanding presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Spanish is preferred. Fluency in Spanish a strong plus
