Are you a technology generalist with an eye for what makes a great user experience? Want to help a leading liberal arts college elevate its academic tech tools to the next level?

Whether you’re a recent CS or IT graduate, a seasoned systems administrator, a help desk worker looking to take that next step, or a self-taught scripter, Davidson T&I’s Academic Technology team could be the right fit for you.

From Moodle, to virtual labs, to research computing, classroom audio/visual, and beyond - we’re looking for someone who can weave in and out of the tools and systems that support teaching and learning at Davidson College, solving problems, responding to incidents, fulfilling requests, and taking notes as they go. Over time, we’d like this person to become the go-to authoritative expert in these systems: writing documentation, building training programs, and staying on top of changes as each system evolves - all while keeping the user experience of our faculty, staff, and students as their #1 priority. In Davidson T&I, we call this mentality “product ownership,” and if we get the chance to interview you, we’ll tell you all about it.

Who are you? You’ve recently graduated with an Associate’s Degree or secured an equivalent industry certification, or maybe you just have a few years of relevant experience under your belt. In previous roles, you’ve demonstrated an ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. You’ve also proven yourself to be an empathetic and curious listener, which allows you to get to the root of things. You’re driven to understand why people and systems work the way they do. When confronted with a problem in a system you use, you’re comfortable experimenting and researching to troubleshoot it on your own. When confronted with a problem someone else may be having, you get curious and look at the big picture to make sure you understand what they’re trying to accomplish in addition to digging into the technology. You’re always on the lookout for ways to make things easier and more efficient.

We don’t expect you to have experience with all of our platforms, or possess all of the necessary skills on day 1. Rest assured that Davidson T&I is committed to investing the time and resources required to train and onboard product owners. Eventually, if selected for this role, you’ll grow into the expert product owner we need you to be.

This is really important to our team, and we hope it’s important to you as well.
