The Program Manager, Educational Programming at the Jay Hurt Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Davidson College will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing unique, entrepreneurship-focused programs for Davidson students, faculty, staff, alumni, co-workers at the Hurt Hub and broader Davidson community. This person will play a key role on the leadership team at the Hurt Hub@Davidson focused on producing educational curriculum, special events, and funding competitions supporting our community members wherever they are in their entrepreneurial journeys. 

Top candidates will have “fun doing the impossible” and will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, enjoying the process of testing, learning, and iterating to develop exceptional experiences for everyone who engages with the Hurt Hub@Davidson. They will not be afraid to take risks and move quickly, while also having an unwavering focus on inclusion, equity, ethical behavior, and high-quality standards. They must also be excellent communicators and project managers with an acute attention to detail. We run the Hurt Hub@Davidson just like a startup and encourage applications from those outside the world of higher education and non-profit organizations as well.

Ideal candidates will also have at least 3-5 years of experience in program development & management, curriculum development, product development & management, and/or service development roles.

Responsibilities include:

• Educational Programming:

  • Develop a differentiated curricular strategy that supports entrepreneurs and innovators of all backgrounds, tenure and experience levels. Where possible, collaborate with Davidson faculty, including the Faculty in Residence at the Hurt Hub@Davidson, staff leaders, and community partners.

  • Serve as the primary contact for recruiting, vetting, and managing external (non-Davidson faculty/staff) instructors and partners. Partner with the Hurt Hub@Davidson Operations manager to ensure timely processing, onboarding, and payment of instructors. 

  • Develop and execute all marketing programs to drive registration of classes, survey students at the conclusion of classes, analyze the results and develop recommendations for improvements for the future. 

  • Assist instructors on class operations, communications with students, distributing materials, facilitating online and in-person instruction (e.g. reserving space). 

• Startup Capital Programming:

  • The Hurt Hub@Davidson offers students and recent alumni the opportunity to apply for funding to support the exploration and growth of innovative ideas. Funding available ranges from micro-grants of up to $1,000 to grants and/or equity investment of up to $25,000 for market-tested ideas and incorporated businesses. This role will manage the strategy and execution of the competitions for the Failure Fund, Avinger Impact Fund and Davidson Venture Fund including: recruiting of applicants and reviewers, marketing, initial coaching, developing curriculum around the competitions, tracking progress, partnering with the operations manager to distribute funds, matching finalists with mentors, communicating with applicants, etc.

  • Prepare summary reports for the Director of the Hurt Hub@Davidson for annual and other reporting purposes as needed. 

  • Develop case studies and stories to highlight past winners and contestants to drive future participation, general program awareness, and donor support.

Other responsibilities:

• Serve as a representative and evangelist for all things happening at the Hurt Hub@Davidson to drive greater awareness and involvement across the campus community.

• Participate in Admissions and College Relations activities as requested by the Director of the Hurt Hub@Davidson including trainings, webinars, panels, special events, etc. 

• In partnership with the Coordinator of Student Engagement, cultivate relationships with students seeking to work on their own venture; provide guidance and ongoing support and connect students to resources as needed.
