A Research Technician is needed to assist in all aspects of research being conducted in the Behavioral Pharmacology Laboratory. Supervise and train students who participate in the research program of the Behavioral Pharmacology Laboratory.  


Prepare studies examining the effects of various pharmacological agents. Test research subjects in behavioral and pharmacological experiments. Maintain records and data from experiments being conducted.

Maintain laboratory equipment. Inventory and order equipment and supplies. Prepare solutions. Maintain and update all procedures in the laboratory manual.

Supervise, schedule, train and recruit (with Dr. Smith) student research assistants.  


Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in psychology, biology, or neuroscience with at least one year of laboratory experience. Laboratory experience may have been obtained in whole or in part during undergraduate training. Experience with computers required. Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills also required. At least one year of laboratory experience in psychology, biology, or neuroscience is required. This experience may have been obtained in whole or in part during undergraduate training.

The individual must have basic knowledge of psychological and biological concepts and theories. The individual must have basic skills in conducting behavioral experiments. The individual must have basic knowledge of animal models of behavior. The individual will be required to conduct routine behavioral and pharmacological lab work that uses laboratory animals.
