Overview

The Davidson College Fellows program provides graduating seniors or 2020 graduates an entry-level, one-year or two-year term-limited position in an information technology field. Our purpose is to help you grow your talent and skills, while you help us solve technology problems for the college. Fellows positions are open to all recent graduates, although the college gives a hiring preference to Davidson graduates. We are seeking a class of 2020 or 2021 graduate to join our team as a User Success Fellow. T&I’s User Success Team (UST) is a support team responsible for end user support at Davidson College. We have 5 full time staff and a team of 20-30 students that support the technology needs of the campus.

Here’s what we do:

  1. Operations

    1. Purchasing, receiving, imaging and deploying campus endpoints (desktops, laptops, printers, tablets etc) and maintaining an inventory database.

  2. User Support

    1. Troubleshooting and supporting endpoints (Computers and other devices in offices, labs and classrooms) and the software that runs on them. This includes consultations about replacements where we match user needs to computer specifications.

    2. Phone, chat, walk-in, remote and in person support for users

    3. Classroom support

    4. Cybersecurity (malware removal, drive encryption, two factor authentication, etc.)

    5. Laptop Kiosks

  3. Knowledge Creation and Management

    1. Publish and maintain user guides at support.ti.davidson.edu

    2. Identify content opportunities

    3. Craft user-friendly instructions

  4. Projects

    1. Internal process automation, design and implementation

    2. User Experience improvements

  1. Operations

  2. User Support

  3. Knowledge Creation and Maintenance

  4. Management (project and personnel)

In each of these areas over the course of the fellowship, we want you to understand the service, document the service and improve the service.

A successful candidate for this position could come from many different technical and educational backgrounds, but fundamentally is a strong problem-solver who can learn how to build better processes and experiences for others using technology.

As a Davidson Fellow working on a close-knit team with other technology professionals, you’ll get the support, training and experience you need to grow and be successful in your career. We will provide you with feedback and coaching along the way. We value problem solving, empathy and communication over previous tech experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, understandable and empathetic manner.

  • Excellent communication and listening skills, allowing the UST Fellow to interface comfortably with colleagues and constituents inside and outside of Davidson T&I.

  • Project and time management skills, with ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
