WDAV Summer Intern – Digital Media and Podcast Production

Basic Function: Are you a student interested in building real-world podcasting experience with an experienced team? The WDAV Summer intern for Digital Media and Podcast Production will receive hands-on experience in the research, development, and production of the “Power Play” podcast. This internship is designed to give college students or recent graduates a practical opportunity to explore digital media, broadcasting, sound engineering, and journalistic research in public media. Training in all aspects of podcast production will be provided.

Duties include:

  • Researching topics for the “Power Play” podcast
  • Writing narratives about the topics
  • Pitching episode ideas to WDAV staff
  • Writing scripts for podcast topics
  • Reviewing, revising/editing scripts
  • Voice recording/hosting podcast episodes
  • Learning the process for editing episodes
  • Promotional work (marketing, transcripts, and audience insight)

 

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is curious about and has a willingness to dive into new topics
  • Has strong writing skills
  • Interested in production and editing
  • Able to receive constructive feedback and adjust work as needed
  • Excellent ability to convey ideas to others in a way that promotes understanding
  • Interested in classical music, public media, and/or broadcasting
  • Is extremely reliable
  • Pays close attention to details
  • Can work independently/remotely with minimal supervision
  • Looks for creative solutions to problems/issues
  • Excellent ability to prioritize
  • Demonstrates a passion for their areas of interest (e.g., performing arts, graphic design, travel, etc.)

Working Conditions: Remote work with the possibility of some in-person office work; ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision. This position may require evening and weekend work depending on research assignments.
