Lab Manager

Effective July 19, 2021, there is an opening for the position of Laboratory Manger in the Chemistry Department.  This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year, salaried position.  Salary is based on education, skills, and experience of the chosen applicant.

Primary Function: Serve as manager of chemistry laboratories, preparing all chemicals, equipment, and instruments for laboratory experiments and demonstrations.

Other duties: These include monitoring chemistry lab spaces in the Wall Academic Center and serving as its primary contact to different support groups within the college, collect and arrange for proper disposal of chemical wastes, train and supervise student workers that assist lab manager with lab preparation, assist faculty in teaching laboratories as needed, and perform general equipment maintenance.

Working Conditions: The lab manager has a personal office space, they will work in a variety of laboratory and office environments; work with toxic chemicals; and may be required to work some hours on weekends and evenings.

Education and Experience Requirements: At least a Bachelors degree in chemistry is required, extensive experience in laboratory work is critical, and prior experience in chemical education is preferred.  Experience with personal computers and basic laboratory instrumentation required.  Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills also required.
