The Café Supervisor is responsible and accountable for supervision of employees in a fast paced college dining operation. This is a 12 month, 40 hour per week position and is required to work nights and weekends. The person working this position will have primary supervisory responsibilities in the Davis Café, but may be reassigned as needed for special events, etc. The Café Supervisor's primary role is to ensure that guest experience is positive and enjoyable, contribute to a positive work culture, build on staff members skill set, and maintain standards in all areas.

Other responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with all budget guidelines. Shares responsibility for food and labor costs.

Providing hands on leadership to the staff. Cooking short order, developing and seeking compliance with all recipes. Responsibility for the finished menu item.

Adhere to all unit standards in regards to food production, maintenance, cleanliness/sanitation and proper cost controls.

Supervision of registers and cashiers. Accuracy of price and menu postings, proper posting of all food items, accuracy of transactions, balancing cashiers drawers and all other sources of income.

Ensure compliance with all state health guidelines.

Support and adhere to all Dining Services and Davidson College policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned. Additional and Special duties can/ will be assigned, depending on needs of the operation.    

High school degree or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of commercial kitchen leadership experience required.

More than 3 years’ experience in supervisory role in a commercial kitchen, graduation from an accredited Culinary School and ServSafe certification preferred.

Must have a great track record of strong supervisory and/or leadership skills and experience. Requires good organizational skills, ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. Must be able to demonstrate high level of cooking skill and great customer service skills. Desire to support our stated mission and provide leadership that supports policies and procedures.
