The Head of Basketball Sports Performance – this position will report directly to the Director of Sports Performance (Strength & Conditoning) with dotted reporting lines to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and the Women’s Head Basketball Coach. The coach in this position will oversee all areas of strength & conditioning development for Davidson’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs.
This coach will also provide secondary support duties as assigned by the head strength & conditioning coach (including general/specific weight room upkeep and maintenance, safety oversight for other lifting sessions when available, and oversight/assistance with the hiring and development of program interns).
This position will include some work responsibilities to take place at practices, meetings, work/attendance at home games, and flexible travel for away competitions that would be evenly distributed amongst both teams. This position will be expected to work within the structures of the overall strength & conditioning program at Davidson College while providing primary oversight of basketball performance. This position works in conjunction with Davidson sports performance including our athletic training staff, equipment staff, nutritionist, and all other areas. Working in accordance with NCAA and conference (A-10) rules is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or Related Field
SCCC or CSCS Certification
2 Years + of High School and or Collegiate Experience Training Athletes of the Primary Assigned Sports
Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or Related Field
SCCC or MSCC Certification
2 Years + of Collegiate Experience Working with D-I Athletes of Primary Assigned Sports
Good Communication Skills and the Willingness to be part of a hard working productive team is a must. Experience on Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, etc.) is preferred. The ability to move, demonstrate, and carry out a variety of activities with and without weight is required.
