Primary responsibilities

This position is responsible for contributing to all aspects of a complex application and financial aid process with a special emphasis on admission.  Duties include receiving application and financial aid materials for over 6,000 applications including setup, tracking, maintaining and updating confidential files for all prospective and enrolled students.  Processing applications and documents from numerous sources by performing accurate computer data entry (including confidential ratings) in a quick and efficient manner in an active, fast-paced work environment. Dissemination of financial aid information to students, families, college offices, government and private agencies etc. while assisting with the financial aid application process, and document management under FERPA guidelines. This position will also serve as a primary staff contact person in the Admission and Financial Aid office reception areas to ensure that visitors are greeted in a professional and friendly manner while answering incoming phone calls and email inquiries for both departments. 

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Minimum of three years of general clerical or administrative work experience.

Excellent organizational and communication skills, outstanding attention to detail, self-starter, and ability to work in a team environment. 

Technical dexterity and advanced computer knowledge in Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Slate, and Banner with an interest in learning new computer skills. 

Ability to learn the rules and regulations, and applicable policies pertaining to assigned area of responsibility including confidentiality of student information. 

Ability to learn and adhere to Davidson College policies related to Admission, Financial Aid and the greater institution. Ability to understand the college rules and regulations relating to student enrollment.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree and prior experience in a college admission and/or financial aid office.
