Visiting Assistant Professor in Psychology, Neuroscience

The Psychology Department at Davidson College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Psychology position beginning July 1, 2022. The search is Open Area but with preference for Neuroscience (broadly defined). Length of contract term is 2 years. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interest and the capacity for excellence in teaching in a liberal arts context and eagerness to join the department’s ongoing commitment to addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our curriculum. 

The teaching load for the position is 5 courses over 2 semesters. The successful candidate will teach core courses within the department (e.g., introductory psychology, research methods & statistics) as well as courses in their area of expertise, including a survey course, and an advanced seminar. We provide visiting faculty with mentoring in teaching, support for research, and resources for professional development (e.g., conference travel funding). 

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field by July 2022. Applicants should submit the following materials: (1) cover letter; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) a 1-2 page diversity statement addressing their ability to contribute to Davidson’s institutional commitment to diversity and inclusion; (4) a teaching statement that provides evidence of their ability to create equitable opportunities for learning for students from diverse backgrounds; (5) a research statement that describes their program of research; and (6) the names and email addresses of three references who have agreed to provide letters of recommendation.
