Vice President for Student Life
Working closely with the President and in partnership with a high functioning and collaborative senior leadership team, the next Vice President for Student Life (VPSL) will provide vision, leadership, and direction to further enhance the overall student experience at Davidson. The VPSL will think both broadly and specifically about the student experience and the strategic direction of the College.
The VPSL will be a highly visible leader on campus with significant levels of internal engagement, serving the student body, collaborating with faculty and staff, and communicating with parents and alumni. They will effectively lead and manage a team of skilled professionals and will role model and cultivate a healthy culture for the Student Life division, encouraging communication and transparency, and investing in professional development. This individual will bring a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in all its forms, including a record of individual action and institutional leadership. The next VPSL will also encourage a consistent feedback loop across constituencies in the context of a tight-knit campus community and work effectively and collaboratively across campus with all community members.
As Davidson College is in the process of finalizing their strategic and campus planning, the VPSL will also play a leading role in the design of new and reimagined student life facilities. The plan enhances pathways across campus and connects residence life, athletic and recreation facilities, and dining directly to the campus academic core. Anchored in this plan is a new dining facility co-located with a new center for student health and wellbeing as well as additional recreation and wellness spaces.
The VPSL oversees a division of more than 75 staff members (excluding student workers and temps) with 10 direct reports and an operating budget of $16 million.

Executive Director for the Matthews Center for Career Development
Davidson College seeks a transformative leader to serve as the next Executive Director for the Matthews Center for Career Development, a center devoted to purposeful professional development and career exploration throughout the Davidson experience.
This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a center at a pivotal time for Davidson as it prepares itself to achieve its purpose more fully through its recent strategic plan. To that end, the next Executive Director will be a key leader in executing on two of the plan’s key pillars: building a learning-for-life program rooted in exploration and self-reflection, and deepening engagement with the Charlotte metro area.
Reporting to the President, the Executive Director will provide visionary and strategic leadership to achieve these goals, while overseeing the development and delivery of programs and resources for the Center. This individual is a highly visible leader, with frequent engagement in the Charlotte metro area, as well as regionally and nationally, to further develop and strengthen relationships with employers, donors, a highly engaged alumni community, and other community partners.
