Davidson College Human Resources Department is seeking qualified candidates for a talent acquisition specialist assignment expected to last at least two months. The successful candidate will be passionate about employment, recruitment, and onboarding tasks as well as helping others in fulfillment of their next career opportunity. You will work with hiring managers and faculty hiring chairs to manage the end-to-end recruiting life-cycle to include sourcing, screening, selection, offer and onboarding processes. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist you will:

Partner with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and help them source, screen, and secure top talent.

Schedule intake meetings to understand the job requirements, assistant managers in development of related competencies to use throughout the screening and selection process, go over best practices in selection and interviewing, train managers on the use of the applicant tracking system (ATS) and recruitment tools to assist in making the best possible hire. 

Review job descriptions and job postings for completeness and accuracy.

Build and maintain candidate pools through the job posting, sourcing, social networking, referral, and other suitable channels for attracting qualified talent.

Train and or assist managers in updating the ATS regularly during various stages in the selection process. 

Maintain regular communication with hiring managers throughout the selection process and document and address challenges.

Respond to applicant inquiries regarding position status and assist with the application process.

Prepare offer letters for signature and prepare new hire packets for data entry.

Assist with the student hiring process during peak periods and serve as back up as necessary.

Assist hiring managers with advertising options and strategies for building rich and diverse applicant pools.

Process and review background investigations to ensure they meet the college's guidelines.

Update process documentation as requested. 

Manage the on-boarding of new employees (with exception of orientation training), including collection of new hire paperwork.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree

Minimum two years of experience in talent acquisition

Experience in working successfully and comfortably with diverse populations

Intermediate level of competency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook

Experience in working successfully and comfortably with diverse populations

Experience with databases, particularly HRIS systems

Great Interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & TRAINING

Knowledge of employment law and general human resources functions

Excellent customer service and communication skills

High-level organizational and time management skills

Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks to meet established deadlines

Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Analytical and detail minded with ability to problem solve.

Ability to quickly achieve competence in new technology and to train others

Proficiency in Applicant Tracking and HRIS systems

Positive attitude, strong sense of humor, and commitment to working successfully as part of a team dedicated to the mission of the college

Desired Skills:

PHR or SHRM certification

Experience with Ellucian Banner is a plus

Previous experience in Higher Education

Fluency in Spanish is a plus
