The Davidson Talent Acquisition Specialist position offers the opportunity for you to have a meaningful impact in hiring, growing and retaining the college’s talent expertise and managing policy decisions related to employment, recruitment and onboarding.

Partner with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and help them to source, screen and secure the talent their teams need to be successful • Assist in the development of job descriptions and auditing position data to ensure accuracy and consistency. • Develop specific and creative strategies to identify and initiate contact with potential qualified candidates through networking, industry association involvement, employee engagement, social media, job boards and career fairs. • Prepare offer letters for chosen candidates and response letters to unselected applicants. • Secure offer acceptances from selected candidates. • Respond to applicant inquiries regarding position status and assist applicants with application process. • With Associate Director for HR Operations, share responsibility for ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws. • Provide immigration support - in consultation with the HR Director, consult with hiring managers on immigration questions and assist faculty committees and new hires with immigration procedures. • Assist Employment Fellow with student employment processes during peak hiring seasons and serve as back up during team absences. • Liaise with outside staffing agencies.

Advertising and Candidate Sourcing

Provide hiring managers/faculty chairs with advertisement options, advertise positions and seek new advertisement opportunities. • Assist hiring managers with strategies for building rich and diverse applicant pools. • Oversee the creation and maintenance of social networking sites to promote open positions.  • Responsible for developing and maintaining employment branding image to attract a diverse and qualified candidate pool. • Maintain and update “Employment at Davidson” section of external HR website.  

Employment-related Systems

Manage applicant tracking system and train hiring managers and faculty chairs on posting requirements, updating postings, and changing applicant statuses as necessary. • Manage background screening systems and employee data related to hiring and onboarding. • Manage and maintain updated job descriptions for every position. • Develop process documentation for internal and external users and keep information up-to-date. • Manage relationships with employment vendors and reconcile and process invoices. • Serve as lead in implementation of new functionality and/or systems.


Trains users (i.e. Hiring Managers, HR staff and faculty chairs) on applicant tracking system and process. • Provide guidance and training to hiring managers regarding best practices in interviewing/selection procedures to help ensure consistency and fairness in the hiring process. • Teach managers and supervisors about recruitment and negotiation to improve their ability to attract and retain high-performing employees.


Responsible for on-boarding new employees (with exception of orientation training), including collection of new hire paperwork (tax forms, I-9, direct deposit, etc.). • Maintain and update onboarding workflows for accuracy and relevance.


Bachelor's Degree

Minimum two years of experience in talent acquisition

Experience in working successfully and comfortably with diverse populations

Intermediate level of competency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook

Experience in working successfully and comfortably with diverse populations

Experience with databases, particularly HRIS systems

Great Interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills


Knowledge of employment law and general human resources functions

Excellent customer service and communication skills

High-level organizational and time management skills

Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks to meet established deadlines

Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Analytical and detail minded with ability to problem solve.

Ability to quickly achieve competence in new technology and to train others

Proficiency in Applicant Tracking and HRIS systems

Positive attitude, strong sense of humor, and commitment to working successfully as part of a team dedicated to the mission of the college

Desired Skills:

PHR or SHRM certification

Experience with Ellucian Banner is a plus

Previous experience in Higher Education

Fluency in Spanish is a plus
