The Center for Student Health & Well-Being (CSHWB) at Davidson College is seeking applicants for a 12-month, full-time clinical case management position to begin in August 2022. The CSHWB comprises a multidisciplinary staff utilizing a holistic and evidence-based approach to tailor each student’s treatment plan, considering each student’s unique background and needs. This position aims to promote holistic student well-being and success by providing continuity of care that ensures all students receive physical and mental health services tailored to their needs.  This is a three year position, donor-funded position. 

Primary duties of the clinical case manager include, but are not limited to the following:

•             Collaborate with counseling and medical center staff, community providers, and other campus partners in the planning, implementation, and coordination of care of students under the framework of understanding the unique needs of intersecting personal and cultural identities.

•             As part of the clinical counseling team, provide triage assessment to determine the level of care and tailored treatment plan.

•             Provide transitional support to students with referrals to mental and physical health off-campus providers, ensure contact has been established, and follow up with both student and provider as needed to promote compliance with treatment recommendations.

•             Coordinate and facilitate hospitalization and post-hospitalization/discharge planning, including follow-up with students with referrals from the ER.

•             Manage psychiatry and other referrals to the community providers, including medication management follow-up.

•             Monitor reports from on-call services, documenting, following up with students, or delegating follow-up with students in crisis to the appropriate counselor.

•             Provide clinical bridging services for students waiting for off-campus mental health referrals.

•             Follow up with students who no-show or cancel and do not reschedule initial appointments.

•             Initiate and maintain relationships with community health providers, hospitals, and other community resources.

•             Partner and collaborate, as needed, with the Assistant Dean of Students/Case Manager to maintain a database of referral sources and community services, offer educational programs to students, faculty, and staff, and ensure proper referrals to student health, counseling, and psychiatry.

•             Participate in outreach and programming to promote the Center for Student Health & Well-Being resources and supports.

•             Collaborate and consult with key stakeholders on- and off- campus to develop and maintain comprehensive and multidisciplinary mental health care for students.

•             Provide emergency/crisis care in a culturally responsive manner.

•             Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for record-keeping and communication with other service providers based on ethical and legal standards and requirements to enhance student care.

•             Serve in the Counselor On-Call rotation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work
  • Must be eligible for NC licensure as a therapist within their clinical field of practice (e.g., LCMHCA, LCMHC, LCSW, etc.) and be expected to obtain full licensure within the first year of employment.
  • Commitment to serving a diverse student population, including students from underrepresented populations; various racial and ethnic backgrounds; gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender students; low socioeconomic students; and international students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a clinical case manager.
  • Prior experience working in a college counseling center.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team-oriented environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of trends and current best practices in college student mental health care.
  • Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented populations such as gender-diverse individuals and those from diverse racial and ethnic groups.
  • Prior experience using electronic health record-keeping system.
