Grants Accounting Assistant

Reporting to the Post-Award Manager in the Office of Grants & Contracts, the Grant Accounting Assistant is responsible for the financial administration of internally and externally funded grants and contracts. This position plays an important role in post-award administration in providing several accounting functions for awards.  The Grant Accounting Assistant ensures proper award setup, monitors budgets, reviews and approves expenditures, provides timely invoicing for expenses incurred, understands and supports compliance with sponsor regulations, and financial reporting. 

This position is responsible for processing grant related accounting transactions, as well as general administrative support for the Office of Grants and Contracts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience required.

Minimum of 1 year prior accounting and/or payroll experience required.

Qualified candidates will be proficient in MS Office and Google Suite (pre-employment proficiency test will be required). Must be self-directed and able to work independently. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail, along with the ability to meet deadlines. Must have a strong customer service and team work focus. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Experience in sponsored research, funding agencies, federal and state guidelines

Experience with an enterprise-wide financial system
