Guest House & Event Assistant

Basic Function:

To provide assistance to the Guest House and Guest Services.

Essential Functions:

Assist the Guest House Directors in daily functions around the Guest House including making reservations, rotating opening duties, occasional basic clean-up, and making guests feel welcome and comfortable at all times.

Assist the Guest House Director in coordinating all non-college sponsored events such as weddings, symposiums, meetings, and conferences. Coordination of events from start to finish includes showing venues to potential clients, communicating through phone calls and emails to all departments involved on campus, and occasionally being present at those events requiring a college representative.

Manage work study students. Responsibilities include scheduling, training, and managing special project assignments.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Will mainly be working in an office environment at the Guest House. Some light-weight lifting required.

Must be able to work every other weekend for the opening shift of 7:30am-2pm and assist with some after-work and holiday events being held on campus.

Required Qualifications:

Must have initiative and be able to work independently. Attention to detail and good organizational skills are necessary. Computer and word processing knowledge is required as well as the ability to learn our guest tracking program quickly.    

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with event planning and group management is preferred. Knowledge of hotel reservation booking a plus.
