The Department of Hispanic Studies at Davidson College seeks to hire a Visiting Assistant Professor for a one-year position in 2023-24 in any field of Hispanic Linguistics, or Hispanic Literary or Cultural Studies, including US Latinx.

The successful candidate will teach five courses per year including courses in the Spanish language sequence and an upper-level course in the candidate’s area of expertise, all conducted in Spanish. As part of the language instruction, the candidate will supervise a small number of undergraduate teaching apprentices (no more than six per semester). The successful candidate must provide evidence of a record of excellence in Spanish language teaching at the undergraduate level and an active research agenda. Annual professional development travel funding and opportunities for research support are available. Additional responsibilities include participation in departmental and college-wide activities and initiatives that support Hispanic Studies. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English required.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in hand in Hispanic Studies or related fields by the time of appointment although those who hold ABD status are also welcome to apply.
